Range #4 Rules and Regulations

Range #4 (R4), is located west of the south entrance road. It is a designated archery range open to members and their guests. All General LRPC rules apply for this range.

1)    Approved archery equipment is limited to compound bows, recurve bows, longbows, and crossbows. NO firearms, air rifles, or air pistols are permitted on this range at any time.

2)    Only target field tips are to be used when shooting at R4. No broadheads, either fixed or mechanical, are to be used on this range.

3)    Targets provided by the club can be used or members may bring their own targets for use. Only club-approved archery targets designed to capture arrows and bolts are to be used on R4. All club approved targets must be placed between the backstop and the club approved active firing line or point.

4)    The “line-is-safe'' when all bows have been made safe and all archers have stepped back from the firing line. Bows are safe when there is no arrow in the bow or in the case of a crossbow, the limbs are no longer cocked and the bolt is not strung. No one may move forward of the active firing line until all archers have acknowledged that the “line-is-safe.”

5)    The line is no longer safe when everyone is behind the active firing line and all archers have acknowledged that the line is “clear to shoot,” “hot,” or “no-longer-safe.”

6)    Handling or maintenance of bows and crossbows while anyone is down range is NOT PERMITTED.

7)    Only one archer per club approved target is permitted on R4. The common firing line will be established by consensus of the archers at one of the club designated firing lines. Targets may be moved away from the backstop, or archers may move closer to the backstop upon mutual agreement, provided that no archer is positioned in front of the firing line of any other archer.

8)    Only one supervised guest can shoot at a time.

9)    The backstop is provided as a safety measure, as well as to retrieve arrows and bolts which have missed the archery targets. The rubber backstop mats, the frame, or any other part of the backstop are not to be used as targets.

10) Shooting positions and/or targets must be adjusted so that the arrow/bolt impacts with the target at all times. Arrow/bolt flights must be towards the club provided backstop (east to west) to ensure the arrow or bolt contacts the backstop in the event of a missed target.
