Range 1 Rules and Regulations
Range #1 (R1) is the common 100-yard range located to the east of range #2 (R2)
A) TARGET FRAMES AND TARGETS
- Only club approved target frames may be used.
- Shooting on multiple target frames is not permitted. Cross firing is not permitted. Target frames shall be placed in line to the shooting position and the shooter may not fire at targets to their left or right.
- The distance between the shooter and the target must be established to allow for a safe shooting environment. You are charged with the responsibility of knowing your shooting limitations and the limitations of the firearm, sights, optics, caliber, and ammunition. The placed shot must pass through the target and impact the earthen bunker……NO EXCEPTIONS!
- The ONLY acceptable targets are of paper construction and attached to a backer board not larger than the approved frame. The target must be fixed in a fashion to prevent movement; for example, stapled, taped or glued. The target must be placed inside the boundaries of the target frame.
- The permanent rifle frames on the west side of range 1 are designated as rifle target frames.
Club provided steel and /or reactive targets will be permitted only at the discretion and direction of the board. Violations will result in disciplinary action.
B) RIFLE SHOOTING – for the purpose of this document a rifle is defined by current federal and state regulations.
1) Club provided or approved wood target frames are used for rifle shooting from the 100-yard covered firing point.
2) Frames will be positioned at the zero line only.
3) Shooting positions and/or target frames shall be adjusted so that the projectile passes through the target and impacts the bunker at all times.
4) When non-shooting guests are present under the covered firing point, they may occupy an adjacent position for observation purposes given the adjacent shooting positions are unoccupied. All LRPC members take precedence over guests.
5) The covered firing point located on the 100-yard shooting point, utilizes a lighting system to signify the condition of the range. This lighting system is used only to the 100-yard shooting distance. The BLUE light indicates that the range is COLD/SAFE at which time all firearms must be in a SAFE mode. Firearms are NOT permitted to be handled or touched during this condition. The RED light indicates that the range is HOT/UNSAFE and that firearms may be handled. When no one is on the range the lighting system shall be shut off.

C) PISTOL SHOOTING – for the purpose of this document a pistol is defined by current federal and state regulations.
1) Club provided wood target frames are used for pistol shooting from the 25-yard and 50-yard lines. Orange pistol frames are specifically used for shooters 5 feet or under.
2) Pistol shooting from the 50-yard line is only permitted if a member (not guest) requests to practice at the 50-yard distance or during usage of the ransom rest platform. Once the 50-yard session has ended the 25-yard line reverts to being the active line.
3) Club approved pistol frames may be placed at any distance in front of the shooter up to the zero-yard line. Only (1) target frame shall be used by each shooter and only one target may be placed in the center of the targeting area.
a) Pistol shooters must secure their own backer board.
b) Backer board and target should be prepared prior to the shooter going forward to set up.
4) Shooting positions and/or target frames shall be adjusted so that the projectile passes through the target and impacts the bunker at all times.

D) 100-YARD PISTOL SHOOTERS
1) All 100-yard pistol shooters must satisfactorily complete a qualification shoot as directed by the board. No shooter other than those that possess a qualified “100-yard pistol” membership badge shall fire from the 100-yard line. (Reference section G below)
2) All qualified pistol shooters will set up their equipment at the covered firing point with a club approved rifle wooden target frame positioned at the zero-yard line. The wooden target frame must remain at the zero-yard line. Frame preparation should be made behind the firing line before going forward to set up.
3) Shooting positions shall be adjusted so that the projectile passes through the target and impacts the bunker at all times.

E) RIFLE, MUZZLE-LOADER RIFLE, and SHOTGUN SHOOTING
1) All rifle, muzzle-loader, and shotgun (slug projectile only) shooters will set up their equipment at the scheduled firing line with a club approved rifle wooden target frame at the zero-yard line. The wooden target frame must remain at the zero-yard line. Frame preparation should be made behind the firing line before going forward to set up.
2) Shooting positions shall be adjusted so that the projectile passes through the target and impacts the bunker at all times.
3) Shotgun patterning shall be conducted at the 25-yard or 50-yard firing line. A shotgun patterning wooden frame (larger dimensions than normal rifle frame) shall be used for such purposes. The wooden target frame must remain at the zero-yard line. Frame preparation should be made behind the firing line before going forward to set up.
4) If a muzzle-loader misfires and the ball and powder cannot be safely removed while on the active firing line, the firearm is considered unsafe. It must be transported from the firing line with the cap or flint removed and safely stored until removed from club property.
5) Muzzle-loaders may be placed in a portable rack.
6) Before going forward of the firing line, the firearm and the line must be made safe.

If the range is vacant, a shooter may use either rifle or pistol from the appropriate firing line using the appropriate wooden frame.
The posted schedule shall always take precedence. The range must be relinquished to a club member who wishes to shoot the posted schedule of the day and time.
G) Qualification for shooting a pistol at 100 yards
The purpose of this qualification is to allow individuals who may hunt with handguns or participate in competitive long-range pistol shooting to practice. Shooting a pistol at 100 yards requires experience and a high level of skill. All projectiles of qualified individuals are expected to pass
through the backer of the rifle frame. Improper use of this qualification will result in loss of the privilege.
1) Each applicant is allotted 50 rounds of ammunition for the qualification process.
2) Applicant verifies their zero at 50 yards using as much or as little of the 50 rounds allotted. The zero will be confirmed by placing a minimum of 5 consecutive rounds on a 14-inch square target.
3) Applicant then moves back to 100 yards with the remaining rounds of ammunition.
4) Ten consecutive qualifying shots must be placed within a 14-inch square target. The pistol may be fired off hand or supported with bags or rest.
5) Qualified members' badges will be marked with the P100 designation.
a) Acceptable Firearms - For the purpose of this qualification individuals will use a pistol without a brace.
